Nicco Martinez is a creative individual from North Houston, Texas.
A multi-instrumentalist by age 15, he first started his journey in music by studying classical guitar under David Barfield (executive director of Guitar Houston) at age 9.
His learning took a great leap forward with the help of the Diaz Music Institute, a privately funded and 1 of a kind jazz education conservatory program—in which he enrolled in 2014, while still respecting his studies during his final year of high school.
D.M.I. afforded him the rare opportunity to learn from and perform with world class musicians, such as Ndugu Chancler (Michael Jackson), Brian Lynch, & Horace Alexander Young.
Through a constant pursuit of growth and education, he has been a full time musician since age 17–playing guitar and bass with formidable prowess in the genres of blues, funk, gospel, pop, and jazz.
You’ll often see him at venues around Houston with musicians 10 or even 20 years his senior.
In 2025, at 29 years old, he has 1 self produced album under his belt & a lot to look forward to.
He is currently a member of the St. John’s Downtown worship band, and extends himself to other creative ventures whenever able.
